| BIOGRAPHY "THE ENTERTAINER"Only one word sums up Carlos Avalon - passion. It's an overused word in American show business, but in Carlos's case it's an understatement. Passion is evident in every note he plays and sings, in the pride he has in his heritage, and in his love of the profession he has chosen. The profession of musician should have been obvious from the start. Both his father, Eduino Bulcao Avila and grandfather were conductors of local bands in Horta, Faial, in the Azores (Portugal). By the age of six, Carlos was learning to play various instruments and he remembers conducting the band "Artista Faialense" at the age of eight. Two years after his family immigrated to the United States in 1966, they formed the Azores 68 band and then-bashful Carlos became it's singer. A unique entertainer, Carlos sings in English, Spanish and Portuguese while he performs a wide variety of music from show tunes to ballads, Latin to country. His theatrical piano style has been compared to Liberace and Roger Williams in its delicacy and precision. "THE RECORDING ARTIST" Carlos Avalon released his first single "Eu Sou Aquele" in 1973 with Azores 68. In 1974 he went "solo" and in 1983 he release the album "Carlos Avalon-Only One" featuring the song "Sonhos" (Dreaming) which became a hit in his native Portuguese market. Carlos has since released two additional singles, a Christmas album and a music video. The CD "Carlos Avalon-Loving Arms" was released on November 25, 2003 and Track #2, the song "Se O Amor Se Vai", was a hit on the largest Portuguese Radio Network in North America. A new CD project (Carlos's first instrumental/piano CD) is set for release in early 2012. "THE PERSONALITY" Carlos's debut performance as a solo artist in 1974 was at the Naniloa Surf Hotel in Hilo, Hawaii. His passion further evidenced itself when he started playing in the demanding lounges of the 1970s and 1980s, meeting rigorous performance schedules with many sets a night, playing to a wide diversity of customers, some of whom had been losers at the casino tables of Harrah's and Hilton. If he could entertain them, he could entertain anybody. But even better, he learned to read all audiences in this challenging atmosphere, a veritable graduate school of live performance. After many years on the road, in 2002, Carlos was offered a long term contract at the Castlewood Country Club giving him the opportunity to stop touring and perform where he was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Then in 2007, Carlos signed with "CELEBRITY CRUISES" and "AZAMARA CLUB CRUISES" performing up to five months a year at sea. Now, Carlos is looking to get back to doing shows in his favorite type of venue, the Casino-Hotel market. He is also working at making a lifelong dream come true... doing a televised concert event in the city of Horta, where he was born in the Azores-Portugal. When not "on-the-road" Carlos divides his time between the family home in Tracy, California and his beloved Palm Springs, California where he now resides. Ultimately, there is no place or time better to understand Carlos's passion for his art than to share it when he performs, doing what he does best, creating an instant and durable connection to every member of his audience through his music and immeasurable charm.
